Margate prides itself on its excellent schools. The community is part of the Broward County Public Schools System, the largest fully accredited district in the nation. This district has received numerous awards throughout the years. For example, the U.S. Department of Education selected the Broward County School District as a recipient of its Staff Training Award, the National Awards Program for a Model Professional Department. Only three districts in the nation were honored with this award that recognizes teacher effectiveness and student achievement.

Margate is also the home of the renowned CAROLINA Golf Club. This 18-hole course was formerly the qualifier for 'The Honda Classic.' It sports a putting green, driving range, fully equipped pro shop and swimming pool in addition to an outstanding restaurant and banquet facility.

Margate has a lot of recreational activities and programs available to its residents. Firefighters Park -- the city's newest -- is the largest Fire Service dedicated park in North America. The park includes three picnic shelters, five tennis courts, two basketball courts, two sand volleyball courts, a half-mile exercise trail, playground areas, an amphitheater, two roller hockey rinks and a 2,000 square foot recreation center.
